GHD selected to deliver upgrades at Skyway wastewater treatment plant in Ontario
WATERLOO, Sept. 09, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GHD, a global professional services company, has been selected to deliver upgrades at the Skyway Wastewater Treatment Plant, in Burlington, Ontario, supporting Halton Region’s efforts to address ageing infrastructure and maintain reliable operations.
The work includes refurbishment of secondary clarifiers, rehabilitation of anaerobic digesters and replacement of thickened waste-activated sludge pumps. These upgrades will improve plant performance, reduce maintenance risks and support continuity of service for the community.
GHD will lead the project from early investigation through design, construction support and commissioning. The scope includes preparation of contract documents, tendering, contract administration, site inspection, SCADA integration, training and delivery of record documentation.
GHD brings direct experience at this facility, having previously delivered the refurbishment of secondary clarifiers 5 to 8 and replacement of high voltage substation. That work provides a clear understanding of the plant and the Region’s expectations for delivery, informing the planning of structural repairs, installation of updated clarifier mechanisms and completion of required upgrades.
“We value the trust the Region has placed in us to deliver this work,” said Don Holland, Project Director and GHD’s Canadian Water Leader. “By building on our familiarity with the plant, we can take a measured approach to these upgrades and support the continuity of operations for the wider community.”
GHD will work alongside Kusiar Project Services Inc., Eramosa (a CIMA+ company), NCE Value Engineers Inc., TreeFrog Environmental and T2 Utility Engineers (T2ue).
This project reflects how GHD approaches essential infrastructure upgrades, responding to current challenges while supporting reliable service for the community over time.
