Tragic Head-On Crash in Australia Claims Two Lives
According to a police report, at approximately 9:25 a.m. Monday, an SUV traveling northbound in Templestowe—located 16 kilometers from central Melbourne—crossed into oncoming traffic and collided directly with a hatchback.
Tragically, both passengers inside the hatchback, who have yet to be identified, were pronounced dead at the scene.
The SUV’s driver, a 54-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital under police supervision.
Following the initial impact, a second SUV was also involved but its occupants escaped unharmed.
Detectives from the major crash investigation unit have launched a detailed inquiry to determine the factors leading to the collision.
This marks the sixth fatal road accident in Victoria since last Friday.
Victoria Police Superintendent Justin Goldsmith stated on Sunday that many of the incidents stemmed from a single instance of negligence or failure to follow rules.
